Hikma Pharmaceuticals, the largest pharmaceutical company in Jordan, is planning to invest more than $100 million in Ukraine, Ukrainian Ambassador to Jordan Serhiy Pasko has said.
"Jordan's largest pharmaceutical company, Hikma Pharmaceuticals, which produces 7% of goods exported by Jordan, is currently planning to build or buy an existing pharmaceutical company [in Ukraine], with a total value of investment of over 100 million dollars," he told Ukrainian journalists in Amman on April 15.
The ambassador said that Jordanian pharmacists had already met with economy and foreign ministers in Ukraine and that several versions of the project were currently being considered.
Pasko also said that this project was interesting to Ukraine due to the fact that Ukraine produces only 40% of the required amount of medicines.
"The Hikma Pharmaceuticals firm, which currently exports about $10 million worth of medicines to Ukraine per year, produces high-quality medicines that are required for Ukrainian consumers," the ambassador said.
